Confirm the destination, vehicle details, shipping scope and documents before agreeing on a truck shipment.
Confirm the destination before planning transport
State the destination country, proposed arrival port and final delivery location separately. Identify the receiving party and the contact coordinating local handling. Give your local customs or registration adviser the truck's year, steering position, specifications and condition to check the requirements for that particular vehicle. Requirements differ between countries; a shipment to one African port is not a template for every market.
Provide booking details for the actual vehicle
The shipping contact needs accurate dimensions, weight, running condition and any detachable equipment. Ask them to propose a suitable shipping method and explain the loading and preparation arrangements. Confirm who prepares the vehicle, moves it to the departure point and handles the loading handover. Treat transit times as estimates until the booking and sailing details are confirmed.
Agree on the document checklist and responsibility
Ask the relevant parties which commercial, transport, vehicle and inspection documents apply to the shipment. Common discussion items include the commercial invoice, vehicle identification, packing or vehicle details, transport document and any required inspection evidence. Have the local adviser confirm the final list and who provides each item. Check that consignee details and vehicle references are consistent across the documents.
Review the full handover plan
Request an itemised transport offer showing included services, named delivery points, insurance arrangements if any and costs left for the buyer. Keep vehicle preparation photos and a record of included accessories. Before the vehicle leaves, confirm the destination contact, tracking information and next handover step. Send the country, port, vehicle quantity and target timing with your enquiry so the shipment discussion starts with usable details.
